Genetically
modified plants
Genetically modified plants or crops
are those containing a gene or genes that were inserted or transferred
artificially instead of the conventional methods.
The transferred gene could be from
another plant of the same type or from another type, for example, the
transgenic BT corn
automatically produces a pesticide as it contains a gene transferred to
the plant from bacteria. this gene produces toxins called Bacillus
thuringiensis Bt, which naturally exist in the soil bacteria. Those
plants containing transferred genes are called genetically modified
plants or crops.
